Think you know the law? Think again.
Did you know that you could be charged with driving under the influence of prescription or even over-the-counter medications?
Or that if you are licensed to drive, you’ve already consented to take tests to determine your blood alcohol content (BAC). If you refuse, your license may be automatically suspended. It’s called Implied Consent.
The laws concerning impaired driving have recently gotten a whole lot tougher. Here are some other things you may not know:
- You can still be convicted even if your BAC is below the legal limit.
- Penalties are more severe now for anyone with a BAC of .16 and up.
- If you’re a CDL driver, and you get caught for drunk driving in any vehicle, you’ll lose your CDL license as well. Think about it—this means your job.
- Under 21? A BAC of just .02 is your minimum. That’s one beer for many people.
- If stopped, you will be arrested if you are driving drunk.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg—there’s a lot more you should know before you head out. Take our legal quiz and test your knowledge.
